As announced at LBMA’s 2025 Global Precious Metals Conference in Kyoto, 2026 will see the introduction of voluntary periodic reporting of Country of Origin (CoO) data. However, for this year's assurance round, Refiners will still report their CoO data annually. Following updates to the Disclosure Guidance, the High Risk Supplier template has been updated to align with the Disclosure Guidance Version 3 (DG3). LBMA is continuing to improve the analytics capability of the Gold Bar Integrity (GBI) Database, which will benefit the market by strengthening data integrity, enhancing transparency, and improving overall system security.

Assurance Providers

Approved Assurance Providers (AAPs) will submit all required documentation into GBI from March 2026 for current GDL Refiners. The new AAP Toolkit files (Assurance Templates and QCTs) are available for download from the GBI platform. These updates will support AAPs to make timely and accurate submissions for the annual Assurance Engagements they have conducted and maintain the integrity of the Responsible Sourcing Programme.

Periodic Reporting - Country of Origin Data

Periodic reporting capability has been developed within GBI, and all Good Delivery List (GDL) Refiners can begin to voluntarily report their CoO data into the GBI Platform from April 2026. Periodic reporting will be cumulative. For example, if a Refiner submits data in January, they report one month; if they submit in March, they report all three months (January–March).

From 2027, we will be moving to mandatory reporting, where all GDL Refiners will be required to report their CoO data monthly. Periodic reporting improves transparency by providing more current and consistent data throughout the year, supporting LBMA’s strategic goals of strengthening integrity, accountability, and market confidence.
